Campuses and mapsClayton CampusMonash University's Clayton campus is the largest of the seven campuses and set on 100 hectares (240 acres) of landscaped gardens 22 kilometres south-east of Melbourne. Situated close to public transport and within easy access of the tourist attractions of Healesville sanctuary and surrounding Dandenong ranges, this thriving metropolitan campus with over 16 000 students, hosts the Faculty of Education as well as that of Arts, Business and Economics, Engineering, Information Technology, Law, Medicine, and Science. Clayton's vibrant student community is well supported by a variety of cafés, and restaurants, entertainment venues, cultural events and sporting facilities. Students might even catch a glimpse of an Australian Football League team training on the pristine sporting grounds or extensive gymnasium and pool facilities. With an array of shops on campus including food stores, libraries, a post office, banks, a chemist, newsagent, bookshop and church, computer and mobile phone outlets, a hairdresser and travel agent, accommodation, medical facilities, picture theatres and markets, this metropolitan campus is completely self-contained! Added to this are the many free concerts, theatre productions and student activities that contribute to the village atmosphere. The strength of Clayton campus is with the number and diversity of courses offered to students at all levels. The Faculty of Education is renowned for its cutting edge research and discussion in educational issues, and this is reflected in the high numbers of undergraduate, postgraduate and research students that choose to study education at Monash University. Gippsland CampusMonash University's delightful rural campus is located in the peaceful Gippsland country town of Churchill, 168 km south-east of Melbourne. The Gippsland region is one of the most diverse in Australia with easy access to snow fields, mountains, wilderness, rainforests, beaches, national parks, and marine parks. Located in a thriving rural centre with breathtaking views of the countryside, Churchill provides students with all their shopping, medical, transportation, social and entertainment needs - as well as recreation needs such as camping, swimming, fishing, bushwalking, and skiing! This tranquil country campus hosts the faculty of education as well as art and design, nursing, arts, business and economics, information technology, engineering and science. Gippsland campus also has a golf course, swimming pool and gym facilities. The Faculty of Education offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree programs with an emphasis on qualifications in primary and secondary education and sport and outdoor recreation. Core strengths of this campus is the location of sport and outdoor recreation studies which can be taken as a degree or part of a double degree, or as major and minor studies within a primary or secondary degree, double degree or graduate diploma of education. Students studying at Gippsland are warmly welcomed into a caring environment and provided with full support throughout their course. Peninsula CampusOn the edge of the metropolitan area of Melbourne and nestled beside the calm waters of Port Phillip Bay, Monash University's Peninsula Campus offers the best of city, country and beach living. Located in the bay side suburb of Frankston, and at the gateway to the tourist and recreational delights of the Mornington Peninsula, the Peninsula campus is in a thriving regional centre which provides students with all shopping, medical, transportation, social and entertainment needs. With open country and gentle beaches only minutes away, the Peninsula campus is close to public transport and geographically convenient to students in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne and the Clayton campus. The Peninsula campus is one of Monash University's smaller and more intimate campuses. A short walk to the beach and shops, it is home to more than 3000 students undertaking courses in education, arts, business and economics, information technology and nursing. Monash University's Peninsula campus offers a caring and supportive learning and teaching environment for students. It is the main campus for studying early childhood and primary education. The Monash Peninsula Early Childhood Centre is a childcare facility for children from 0 to 6 years of age. The Centre also provides Early Childhood students with an opportunity for practical experience. While enrolled, students are encouraged to expand their interests to include music, art, computers, cultural affairs, health issues and environmental science. Education students may also have the opportunity to complete undergraduate music education studies in Europe and teaching experience in either Central Australia or the Cook Islands.
