Tress, paper and us.

As a faculty we are trying to reduce our appalling consumption of paper. To give some idea, in April we printed 81,261 pages, or 163 reams. If we stacked this paper it would be 9 metres high. In just one month we consumed 9.75 trees! (See http://www.conservatree.org/learn/EnviroIssues/TreeStats.shtml). September figures show a slight improvement, but we can all do better. Please note the "how many can you save" posters next to all the printers. They show monthly paper usage from June to September.Think about how you can minimise printing and paper consumption.

On another environment note - please take the Monash Environmental Pledge. It takes less than a minute to complete and for every individual pledge Monash gives $5 to renewable energy schemes. Go to http://fsd.monash.edu.au/environmental-sustainability/monash-environmental-pledge

Thanks to Environmental Officer Louise Broadbent for her ongoing vigilance on the paper problem, which costs us all.Make sure to pick up your copies but more than that - let's try to print less wherever possible.
