The Bachelor of Adult Learning and Development offers a contemporary, cutting-edge approach to workplace and community education and development. Recently reviewed and redeveloped, this highly regarded course is designed for people without an existing university qualification who are already working in adult education (TAFE, private or ACE providers, or industry/corporate sector training and development programs).
The course is directly relevant to adult educators in TAFE and Registered Training Organisations, community education providers, program coordinators, staff development and human resource practitioners, training consultants, and the broad spectrum of people who facilitate adult learning and development, such as workplace mentors, careers and job advisors, and human service professionals (e.g. nurses, counsellors and police officers).
Students will have access to the latest research into adult learning and development, providing them with the opportunity to upgrade their qualifications, gain recognition for prior experience and enhance their professional and career development.
We consulted widely with key stakeholders to design a program that prepares learning and development professionals for today’s diverse business and community needs and tomorrow’s challenges. Students will examine adult learning theory and methods, workplace learning and development, program design and delivery, flexible learning and multimedia, and innovation and sustainability. You will be able to use this knowledge to improve adult learning outcomes, contributing to the development of individuals, organisations, industry, and local and global communities.
This program is delivered flexibly to enable people with work and family commitments to complete it in just two years of full time study. This is achieved by the recognition of prior learning (RPL) for the first year of the degree in the form of relevant workplace or community experience, and post-school qualifications, such as a certificate/diploma in workplace training and assessment, vocational training or a trade certificate.
As well as the experience you already have to achieve RPL, you should also have access to either a formal or informal adult learning environment during the course, so that you can apply your knowledge in a real life context.
